Who it's for

Early-stage teams need to learn fast without burning runway on features nobody uses. We scope a focused MVP, build it on foundations that last, and extend it in phases as usage and funding grow.

Cost depends on
  • User roles
  • Platforms at launch
  • Third-party services
and 1 more factor

How to start

Tell us what you need in your own words. You talk to the developers who would build it and get a written, line-item estimate.

Building for founders still finding product-market fit

Startups rarely struggle because the first code was imperfect. They struggle when months go into a large first version before anyone outside the team has used it. We work MVP-first: find the riskiest assumption in your idea, build the smallest product that tests it with real users, and plan the next phases around what you learn.

That isn't throwaway work. The first release sits on foundations you can grow on (clean data models, authentication, analytics and a deployment pipeline), so phase two extends phase one. You get direct access to the developers building your product, and the code and accounts are yours from day one.

Challenges

What founders tell us they are up against

  1. Too much scope for the runway

Feature lists grow with every investor meeting until the first release is unaffordable.

  2. No tech co-founder yet

Non-technical founders need architecture decisions they can trust and understand.

  3. Inherited code that stalls

Earlier builds without documentation, tests or a deployment process are hard to extend.

  4. An uncertain next phase

After launch it is unclear whether to fix, extend or pivot, and team size needs to flex.

Part of every startup engagement

  • Scope you can afford

Features ranked must-have, next and later, so the MVP matches your runway.

  • Flexible engagement

Fixed-scope for a defined MVP, a monthly team for iteration, or hourly for smaller changes.

  • Full ownership

Code in your repository, cloud and store accounts in your name, IP assigned in the contract.

  • Analytics from day one

Product analytics and crash reporting live before launch, so you can show real usage.

  • Documentation for due diligence

Architecture notes and a clean repository that hold up to technical review.

  • A path to hiring

Conventions and handover sessions so your first engineers can take over smoothly.

How it works

How an MVP turns its first users into product decisions

Whatever the idea, a well-built first release runs the same learning loop, and each pass through it shapes the next release.

  1. Your app (web or mobile)

Step 1: A new user signs up

People join with a mobile number and OTP or a Google account, and onboarding asks only what the core journey needs, so fewer drop off before trying it.

  2. User

Step 2: They do the one core thing

They book, buy, learn or list whatever your idea is about. Each key tap is recorded as an analytics event that was defined before launch.

  3. Payment gateway

Step 3: They pay, if the model needs it

UPI, cards or subscriptions run through a payment gateway, so you learn whether people will pay, not only whether they sign up.

  4. Admin panel

Step 4: Your team runs operations

Founders approve listings, answer support queries and correct data from a simple admin panel instead of editing the live database.

  5. Analytics dashboard

Step 5: Numbers show what works

Activation, retention and funnel drop-offs show where users succeed or give up, alongside crash reports from real devices.

  6. Product team

Step 6: The next release ships

The team fixes the biggest drop-off or adds the next feature, releases within days, and the loop starts again with fresh data.

Then it starts again at step 1: A new user signs up

Platforms

Common first platforms

  • Mobile

    Cross-platform mobile app

Plain-English glossary

Startup product terms, without the jargon

MVP (minimum viable product)
The smallest version of your product that lets real users complete the core job from start to finish. Its purpose is to test your riskiest assumption with actual behaviour before the full budget is spent.
Product-market fit
The point where a clearly defined group of users keeps coming back and would miss your product if it disappeared. Until you reach it, how fast you learn matters more than how many features you have.
Cross-platform app
One codebase, written in Flutter or React Native, that runs on both Android and iOS. For an early team it usually means less build and upkeep effort than two separate native apps.
Analytics events
Named records of key actions, such as “signed up” or “first booking”, sent from your app. Defining them before launch is what lets you measure activation and retention from the first week.
Technical due diligence
The review investors or acquirers run on your code, architecture and ownership before they commit money. A clean repository, documentation and accounts in your company’s name make it far less stressful.

What an early product can look like

Illustrative screens from a home-services marketplace MVP, one of the product types founders bring to us. The data is sample data.

  • Startup software customer app create your account on a phone, with input fields and an action button
Customer app (MVP). Sign-up asks for a phone number, an OTP and one question, because every extra field in an MVP loses users you wanted to learn from.
  • Startup software customer app booking slots on a phone, with open time slots
Customer app (MVP). The core journey stays short: choose a service, pick a slot and pay by UPI, which is exactly the behaviour the MVP needs to test.
  • Startup software admin panel provider approvals table in a web browser, with 4 rows and status labels
Admin panel. Founders approve providers, handle refunds and fix mistakes from a basic admin panel, so nobody has to edit the live database by hand.
  • Startup software founder metrics dashboard on a tablet, with key figures and a chart
Founder metrics dashboard. Activation, retention and crash-free sessions are visible from launch day, giving you real usage figures to discuss with investors.

Cost drivers

What decides the cost of an MVP

  1. User roles

A marketplace with customers, providers and admins is effectively three products; a single role is far simpler.

  2. Platforms at launch

One web app or one cross-platform app costs less than native apps plus a website.

  3. Third-party services

Payments, KYC, maps or AI APIs add integration work and running costs.

  4. Build versus buy

Managed services for auth, notifications and search keep phase one lean.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What should be in our MVP, and what should wait?

Keep what one type of user needs to complete the core job end to end (sign up, do the main thing, pay if relevant) plus basic admin tools for your team. Referral schemes, loyalty points, advanced filters, extra languages and a second user type can usually wait. Our test for every feature: does leaving it out stop us learning whether the idea works? If not, it moves to phase two.

Do you offer fixed-price MVPs or monthly teams?

Both, plus hourly for smaller work. Fixed scope suits a well-defined MVP once discovery has settled the feature list. A monthly team suits founders who expect to change direction after launch, since priorities can shift every sprint without renegotiating scope. Many startups use fixed scope for the first release and move to monthly for iteration. Estimates are line-item either way.

Will we own the code and IP?

Yes. The repository sits under your organisation's account, cloud and app-store accounts are registered to your company, and the contract assigns intellectual property to you on payment. Design files, environment documentation and credentials are handed over too. Investors and acquirers check code ownership during due diligence, and it is far easier to show when it was set up correctly from the first commit.

Can you help us scale after we raise funding?

Yes. Post-launch work usually shifts from features to reliability: load testing, database indexing, caching, background jobs, monitoring and security reviews before larger customers arrive. We can grow the team for a growth phase, or help you hire and hand over to your own engineers. Because the MVP sits on production-grade foundations, the next phase usually extends it rather than rewriting it.
