Higher education runs on records, rounds and deadlines

Colleges and universities carry far more administrative complexity than schools. Admissions involve entrance scores, reservation categories and several counselling rounds. Academics run on semesters, credits and electives. Examinations involve question papers, evaluation, revaluation and results, often for affiliated colleges as well. Accreditation bodies then expect evidence gathered throughout the year.

We build software that keeps these records consistent from application to degree, including uploading credits to the Academic Bank of Credits and issuing certificates through DigiLocker's National Academic Depository where your institution is registered.

Challenges

Campus operations under strain

  1. Admission surges

Application windows bring traffic spikes, payment failures and document verification backlogs.

  2. Credits and electives

Choice-based credits and multidisciplinary options make registration and timetabling hard to manage by hand.

  3. Examination workload

Hall tickets, seating, evaluation, moderation and results for thousands of students stretch small exam cells.

  4. Accreditation evidence

NAAC and NIRF submissions need data departments keep in inconsistent spreadsheets.

Systems we build for higher education

  • Admissions portal

Applications, fee payment, entrance score import, category-wise merit lists and seat allotment by round.

  • Student information system

Enrolment, semester registration, electives, attendance and fee status in one student record.

  • Examination management

Hall tickets, seating plans, marks entry, moderation, revaluation and result publishing.

  • Accreditation data hub

Department-wise data mapped to NAAC criteria and NIRF parameters, with evidence uploads.

  • Placements and alumni

Recruiter registration, drive scheduling, eligibility filters, offer tracking and an alumni directory.

How it works

How a student moves from application to degree

  1. Admissions portal

Step 1: Applicant applies and pays

The application, documents and fee are completed online, with entrance scores imported instead of typed by the office.

  2. Admissions office

Step 2: Merit lists and counselling rounds

Category-wise merit lists are generated and seats allotted round by round, with freeze, upgrade and withdrawal choices recorded.

  3. Student portal

    Step 3: Semester registration

Students choose electives within credit rules, and clashes or full sections are blocked before they become a problem.

  4. Exam cell

Step 4: Exams held and evaluated

Hall tickets, seating plans, marks entry and moderation run in one system, including for affiliated colleges.

  5. Results portal

Step 5: Results and credits published

Results go live on pre-built pages that cope with peak traffic, and earned credits are uploaded to the Academic Bank of Credits.

  6. Registrar

    Step 6: Degree issued digitally

Marksheets and degree certificates are issued to DigiLocker through the National Academic Depository where the institution is registered.

Plain-English glossary

Campus system terms, explained

Student information system (SIS)
The single record of each student's enrolment, courses, attendance, fees and results. When every office reads the same record, transcripts and certificates stop contradicting each other.
Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)
A national digital store of the credits a student earns, which can move with them between institutions. Uploading credits straight from your SIS avoids a separate data-entry exercise every semester.
Load testing
Simulating thousands of students using the portal at once before the real event. It shows where the system would slow down on results day while there is still time to fix it.
CDN
Content delivery network: servers in many cities holding copies of your pages close to users. Serving results and prospectuses this way keeps the portal responsive when everyone logs in together.

Portals for students, the admissions office and the exam cell

  • College and university software student portal semester 3 registration on a phone, with 4 entries
Student portal. Students pick electives within credit limits and see seat availability live, so registration no longer means queues outside the department office.
  • College and university software admissions office round 2 allotment table in a web browser, with 4 rows and status labels
Admissions office. The admissions office runs each counselling round from category-wise merit lists, and vacancies roll into the next round automatically.
  • College and university software exam cell dashboard in a web browser, with key figures and a chart
Exam cell. The controller of examinations tracks hall tickets, evaluation progress and revaluation requests across affiliated colleges in one view.

Cost drivers

Factors in a campus software estimate

  1. Affiliated colleges

Universities running exams for affiliated colleges need multi-institution data models and role hierarchies.

  2. National platform links

ABC and DigiLocker integrations and scholarship report formats each add work.

  3. Peak-load readiness

Admission and result days need load testing and autoscaling so portals stay up.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the admissions portal handle counselling rounds and reservation categories?

Yes. We model seats per programme and category, including horizontal reservations where your rules apply, generate merit lists from entrance scores or qualifying marks, and run allotment by round with freeze, upgrade and withdrawal choices. Vacancies roll into the next round automatically. Your admission rules become configuration, and we check the output against a sample of past data before go-live so the office can confirm it matches manual results.

Do you integrate with the Academic Bank of Credits and DigiLocker?

Where your institution is registered on these platforms, yes. Earned credits can be uploaded to ABC against students' IDs, and degree certificates and marksheets issued to DigiLocker through the National Academic Depository. The route, API or bulk upload, depends on what each platform offers your institution at the time, so we confirm it during discovery and keep the data in one exportable place either way.

How do you keep result and admission portals online on peak days?

We load-test against realistic peak traffic before each event, serve static pages and result lookups from a cache or CDN, and scale servers automatically in the cloud. Payment callbacks pass through a queue so a slow gateway does not block submissions. Results are often pre-computed into read-only pages, which handle far more traffic than live queries, and an engineer monitors the system during the window.
