Who it's for

We build ride-hailing and taxi software: rider apps, driver apps, dispatch consoles, fare engines, driver onboarding and payouts, and safety features. It suits local taxi operators going digital, outstation and airport transfer services, and startups launching niche ride aggregators.

Dispatch, fares and drivers in one system

A taxi business depends on three things working in real time: finding a nearby driver, charging a fare both sides accept, and keeping riders and drivers safe. Local operators often run this through phone bookings and WhatsApp; aggregators need automated matching and pricing from the first day.

We build taxi and ride-hailing platforms for both. The Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, as adopted by each state, set expectations on driver verification, safety features and fares, so we plan those with you before the first screen is designed.

Challenges

Operational realities of taxi businesses

  1. Driver supply at peaks

Airports, stations and rainy evenings need dispatch rules that do not leave riders waiting.

  2. Fare disputes

Tolls, waiting time, night charges and outstation allowances cause arguments when they are not itemised.

  3. Driver verification

Licence, vehicle papers and background checks must be complete before a driver goes online.

  4. Cash handling

Mixed cash and UPI payments make commission settlement with drivers messy.

Ride-hailing features we build

  • Rider app

Book now or later, fare estimates, live tracking, trip sharing with contacts and in-app SOS.

  • Driver app

Trip requests, navigation, earnings, document expiry alerts and cash or UPI collection.

  • Dispatch engine

Nearest-driver matching, airport queues and manual assignment for phone bookings.

  • Fare engine

Distance and time rates, tolls, night and waiting charges, outstation packages and corporate tariffs.

  • Driver wallet and payouts

Commission or subscription deductions, cash adjustments and scheduled payouts.

How it works

How a cab ride works, from booking to rating

  1. Rider app

Step 1: Rider books a cab

Pickup, drop and cab type are chosen, with a fare estimate that shows tolls and night charges up front.

  2. Dispatch engine

Step 2: Dispatch finds a nearby driver

Online drivers close by are offered the trip in turn, while airport queues and phone bookings follow their own rules.

  3. Driver app

Step 3: Driver accepts and heads to pickup

The driver gets pickup details and navigation; the rider sees the cab approaching with its number and driver details.

  4. Driver and rider

Step 4: Trip starts with an OTP

The rider shares a start code so the right person is in the right cab. The trip can be shared with family, and SOS is one tap away.

  5. Fare engine

Step 5: Fare calculated and paid

Distance, time, waiting and tolls produce an itemised fare, paid by UPI, card, wallet or cash.

  6. Admin dashboard

Step 6: Ratings and driver payout

Both sides rate the trip, and the driver's commission and cash adjustments settle in the next scheduled payout.

Plain-English glossary

Ride-hailing terms, explained

Dispatch engine
The software that decides which driver gets which ride, using distance, queue position and rules you set. Good dispatch means shorter waits for riders and a fairer share of trips for drivers.
Real-time location updates
The driver app sends its position every few seconds over a live connection. It powers the moving cab on the rider's map and the search for the nearest free driver.
Geofence
An invisible boundary drawn on a map, such as an airport pickup zone. Entering or leaving it can trigger rules like queue-based dispatch or an airport charge.
Aggregator licence
State permission to run a platform that connects riders with drivers, under rules based on the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines. The software must keep the verification and safety records those rules expect.

The rider app, driver app and dispatch console

  • Taxi and ride-hailing software rider app order tracking on a phone, with live status steps
Rider app. Riders see the driver, the cab number and a live arrival time, and can share the trip with family or press SOS from the same screen.
  • Taxi and ride-hailing software driver app product page on a phone, for new trip request, with price and options
Driver app. Drivers see pickup, drop and the estimated fare before accepting, which reduces cancellations and arguments about the fare later.
  • Taxi and ride-hailing software dispatch console route map in a web browser, with stops and live positions
Dispatch console. Dispatchers see every cab on a live map, create bookings for customers who phone in and assign drivers by hand when the automatic rules need help.

Cost drivers

What decides the cost of a taxi platform

  1. Booking types

City rides, rentals, outstation and airport transfers each need their own fare and dispatch rules.

  2. Commercial model

Commission, driver subscription or owned fleet changes wallet, payout and reporting logic.

  3. Safety features

SOS handling, trip data retention, verification workflows and reports for authorities add scope.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do we need an aggregator licence before launching a taxi app?

In many states, operating as a cab aggregator needs a licence or registration under state rules based on the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines. Requirements vary by state and vehicle type, so check with a transport consultant or lawyer before launch. On our side, we build what those rules commonly expect — driver verification records, SOS, trip data retention and fare display — and adjust flows once your licence conditions are known.

How does live driver tracking work without draining phone batteries?

The driver app sends location at intervals that change with state: frequent during a trip, less often when idle, and paused when the driver goes offline. Updates travel over a lightweight socket connection, and Redis keeps the latest positions for fast nearest-driver queries. We test on the mid-range Android phones most drivers use and handle manufacturer battery-saving settings that otherwise stop background apps.

Can we take phone bookings alongside app bookings?

Yes. A dispatcher console lets your call centre create bookings for customers who phone in, see available drivers on a map, and assign a driver manually or let the dispatch engine choose. The customer gets SMS or WhatsApp updates with driver details and a tracking link, so they never need the app. Many operators keep phone bookings for older customers and corporate accounts while app usage grows.
