Who it's for

Entertainment products face sudden spikes and impatient audiences. We build ticketing, streaming, fan and merchandise platforms that hold up on the big day.

Cost depends on
  • Streaming scope
  • Peak load targets
  • TV and device coverage

Built for opening-night traffic

Entertainment software is quiet for weeks, then everyone arrives at once: tickets go on sale, a season drops, a trailer takes off.

Queues must hold under load, video must adapt to patchy 4G on a moving train, and gate scanning must work when the venue's network does not.

Challenges

What entertainment platforms must survive

  1. On-sale surges

Ticket drops need virtual queues, seat holds and payment timeouts.

  2. Video delivery costs

Streaming, CDN and storage bills grow with every hour watched.

  3. Content protection

Premium content needs DRM such as Widevine and FairPlay.

  4. Venue connectivity

Gate scanning must work offline and sync later.

What we build for entertainment

  • Event ticketing

Seat maps, tiered pricing, QR tickets and offline gate scanning.

  • Streaming apps

Adaptive playback, downloads, watchlists and continue-watching.

  • Subscriptions

Plans, trials and UPI AutoPay renewals with entitlement checks.

  • Fan engagement

Polls, contests, community feeds and push notifications.

  • Merchandise drops

Limited releases with stock reservation and courier integration.

How it works

How a concert ticket goes from on-sale to the gate

Streaming follows its own path; ticketing is where the sharpest traffic spikes hit.

  1. Fan app or website

Step 1: Fans join the virtual queue

At on-sale time, buyers enter a waiting room that admits them at a pace the system can serve, instead of everyone hitting the checkout at once.

  2. Ticketing system

Step 2: Seats held while they pay

The chosen seats are held for a few minutes. If payment is not completed in time, they go back on sale for the next buyer.

  3. Fan app

Step 3: Payment and QR ticket

The fan pays by UPI or card and receives a signed QR ticket in the app and by email.

  4. Gate scanner app

Step 4: Scanners download the ticket list

Before gates open, each scanner downloads the ticket list and signing keys so it can check tickets without internet.

  5. Gate staff

Step 5: Entry at the gate

Each QR code is checked offline and marked as used. Tickets scanned twice at different gates are flagged as soon as the scanners sync.

  6. Organiser dashboard

Step 6: Reconciliation and what comes next

Sales, entries and no-shows are reconciled, and fans receive merchandise offers and the next event announcement.

Platforms

Screens fans use

  • Mobile

    Android app

Apps for Android phones and tablets, tested on budget and mid-range devices and published on Google Play or privately.

  • Mobile

    iOS app

Apps for iPhone and iPad, built to Apple's guidelines and released through TestFlight and the App Store.

    Admin dashboard

Back-office panels for operations, support and finance teams: orders, users, content, reports and permissions.

Technology

Entertainment stack

Redis holds seats during checkout, React Native builds the fan and gate-scanner apps for Android and iOS, and video delivery and on-sale capacity are built on AWS.

Plain-English glossary

Entertainment tech terms, in plain English

OTT
'Over the top': video or audio streamed straight to viewers over the internet rather than through a cable or DTH operator. An OTT app is your own channel to your audience, with your own subscriptions and viewing data.
Virtual waiting room
An online queue that lets buyers into the ticket page in batches during a big on-sale. The site stays up, and fans see their place in line instead of an error page.
Adaptive bitrate streaming
Video prepared in several qualities, with the player switching between them as the viewer's connection changes. On patchy 4G the picture drops quality for a moment instead of stopping to buffer.
CDN
A content delivery network: servers in many cities that keep copies of your videos, images and pages close to viewers. Playback starts faster and traffic spikes are absorbed, and its usage is a large part of a streaming bill.
DRM
Digital rights management: encryption that lets only signed-in, paying viewers play premium content and blocks easy copying. Rights holders often require it, using systems such as Widevine on Android and FairPlay on Apple devices.

What fans, gate staff and organisers see

  • Entertainment software fan app booking slots on a phone, with open time slots
Fan app. Fans pick seats from live availability; chosen seats are held for a few minutes while they pay, so two buyers never end up with the same seat.
  • Entertainment software gate scanner app gate 3 on a phone, with 5 entries
Gate scanner app. Gate staff scan QR tickets even when the venue network drops; scans sync later, and tickets already used at another gate are flagged.
  • Entertainment software organiser dashboard in a web browser, with key figures and a chart
Organiser dashboard. Organisers watch sales, the waiting-room queue and seat holds live during an on-sale, and can pause sales or release seats from one screen.

Cost drivers

Entertainment project cost drivers

  1. Streaming scope

A managed video platform is quicker than custom transcoding and DRM.

  2. Peak load targets

Load testing and autoscaling for on-sale spikes add engineering time.

  3. TV and device coverage

Android TV, Fire TV and smart TV apps need separate builds.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you keep ticketing up during a big on-sale?

We design for the spike. A virtual waiting room admits buyers at a rate the system can serve, seats are held in Redis with short timeouts during payment, and static pages come from a CDN. We load-test at levels you set, brief the payment gateway beforehand and add bot protection against touts.

Should we build a streaming pipeline or use a managed service?

For most OTT and course platforms, a managed service such as AWS Elemental MediaConvert with CloudFront, or a video API provider, handles transcoding, adaptive bitrate and DRM packaging, billed by usage. Custom pipelines pay off only at large scale. We start managed, keep video behind our own API and revisit costs once viewing hours are known.

Can QR tickets be scanned where mobile signal is poor?

Yes. Scanners download the ticket list and signing keys before gates open, validate QR codes offline and mark them as used locally. On reconnection, scans sync and duplicates across gates are flagged. For large venues, a local Wi-Fi network between scanners lets them share entries in near real time without internet access.
