The product lifecycle after the sale

Unlike fast-moving goods, a durable product keeps generating work long after purchase: installation, warranty registration, service visits, spare parts and eventually an upgrade. Much of that sits with dealers and service partners, so the brand rarely sees the full picture.

We build software that follows the product: QR-based registration on the box, warranty validation by serial number, service requests routed to the nearest technician, and a dealer portal for orders and claims. The same data then powers a direct online channel.

Challenges

Gaps between brand, dealer and owner

  1. Paper warranty cards

Registrations are lost or never made, so warranty checks turn into disputes.

  2. Service backlog

Complaints arrive by phone and email with no tracking or technician visibility.

  3. Spare parts guesswork

Parts stock is not linked to failure patterns or the installed base.

  4. Dealer ordering by phone

Orders, schemes and claims run through calls and spreadsheets.

Features for consumer goods brands

  • QR product registration

Owners scan the box to register serial number, purchase invoice and address.

  • Warranty validation

Warranty status by serial, extended warranty sales and claim history.

  • Service request routing

Tickets assigned to service partners by pincode, with a technician app and OTP job closure.

  • Spare parts inventory

Parts stock across service centres, linked to models and common faults.

  • Dealer portal

Orders, schemes, stock returns and claims for authorised dealers.

How it works

How a product is followed from the box to a service visit

One serial number links the sale, the warranty and every repair.

  1. Customer

Step 1: Owner scans the QR code on the box

A web page opens with no app install and registers the serial number, invoice photo and address.

  2. Warranty system

    Step 2: Warranty starts automatically

Warranty status, any extended warranty offer and the service history are attached to that serial number.

  3. Customer

Step 3: Owner raises a service request

By WhatsApp, website or phone; because the serial is known, nobody has to ask for the bill again.

  4. Service dashboard

Step 4: Ticket routed by pincode

The nearest service partner is assigned, and parts commonly needed for that model and fault are flagged in advance.

  5. Technician app

Step 5: Technician repairs and closes with OTP

Photos, parts used and the customer's OTP close the job, and the partner's payout is calculated from it.

  6. Brand team

Step 6: Brand learns from the installed base

Failure patterns by model feed spare parts planning and product fixes.

Plain-English glossary

After-sales terms, in plain English

Installed base
All units of your products currently in use with customers. Knowing where they are, how old they are and what cover they have lets you plan service capacity and spare parts.
Warranty validation
Checking a unit's serial number against factory, sales and registration records before accepting a claim. It confirms the cover is real and stops claims on units that never passed through your channels.
OTP job closure
The customer shares a one-time code with the technician when the work is done. It confirms the visit really happened, which matters when service partners are paid per job.
Extended warranty
Paid cover beyond the standard warranty period. Offering it at registration, while the owner is already engaged with your brand, is a natural moment to sell it.

Product preview

What owners, technicians and your service team see

  • Consumer goods software registration page register your product on a phone, with input fields and an action button
Registration page. Owners register in about a minute by scanning the box, so later warranty checks rely on a record rather than a lost paper card.
  • Consumer goods software technician app jobs today on a phone, with 3 entries
Technician app. Technicians see each job with the model, warranty status and parts history, and close every visit with photos and the customer's OTP.
  • Consumer goods software service dashboard in a web browser, with key figures and a chart
Service dashboard. Your service team sees open requests, response times and recurring faults by model, which feeds spare parts planning and product fixes.

Cost drivers

Cost considerations for consumer goods software

  1. Serial number data

Importing and validating historical serials and invoices from factories or ERPs takes planning.

  2. Service network size

More service partners and technicians mean more onboarding and support tooling.

  3. Channel mix

Adding D2C sales on top of dealer and service modules expands scope.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does QR-based product registration work?

Each unit or box carries a QR code linked to its serial number, printed at the factory or applied at packing. When a customer scans it, a web page opens with no app install needed, asking for purchase date, invoice photo and contact details, and records the warranty start. The same record is used later for service requests, so the technician already knows the model and purchase history.

Can service partners use the system without their own software?

Yes. Most smaller service partners work well with a technician app and a simple web dashboard for the partner's owner. Jobs arrive by pincode, technicians update status, capture photos and parts used, and close jobs with a customer OTP. Larger partners with their own systems can integrate through an API instead. Payouts per job can be calculated automatically from closed tickets.

Can a chatbot handle warranty and service queries?

A chatbot on WhatsApp or your website can handle well-defined tasks: checking warranty status by serial number, booking a service visit, sharing installation guides and tracking a ticket. It should hand over to a human agent for complaints, disputes or anything it isn't sure about. We connect it to your actual warranty and ticket data rather than letting it answer from general knowledge.
