Wellness is sold as a programme, not a product

Wellness businesses sell change over time: a twelve-week nutrition plan, a monthly yoga membership, a series of therapy sessions or an employer wellbeing programme. Success depends on engagement between sessions, such as logging meals, practising and checking in, and on coaches having the context to help.

We build wellness platforms that combine scheduling and memberships with coach-client messaging, habit tracking, content libraries and optional wearable data, while treating health and mental health information with the care it requires.

Challenges

Challenges wellness providers face

  1. Engagement drop-off

Clients drift away between sessions without nudges and visible progress.

  2. Coach workload

Coaches track clients across WhatsApp, spreadsheets and notebooks.

  3. Recurring billing

Memberships and packages renew inconsistently, with manual follow-up.

  4. Sensitive information

Mental health and body data require careful consent and access control.

Wellness platform features

  • Classes and sessions

Class schedules, one-to-one bookings and attendance for studios and coaches.

  • Coach-client workspace

Messaging, plans, check-ins and notes in one place per client.

  • Habit and progress tracking

Meal logs, practice streaks, measurements and progress charts.

  • Wearable integration

Steps, sleep and heart rate via Health Connect on Android and HealthKit on iOS, with consent.

  • Content library

Guided sessions, recipes and courses, gated by membership.

How it works

How a wellness programme keeps clients engaged between sessions

The coach, the client and the membership live in one place.

  1. Client app

Step 1: Client joins a programme

A twelve-week plan or a monthly membership, paid through a UPI AutoPay or card mandate.

  2. Coach

Step 2: Coach sets the plan

Meal plans, practices or session schedules are assigned, with private notes only the assigned coach can read.

  3. Client app

Step 3: Client logs daily habits

Meals, practice streaks and measurements, plus steps and sleep from Health Connect or HealthKit with consent.

  4. Coach

    Step 4: Coach checks in

The coach reviews progress and replies with full context, instead of scrolling back through WhatsApp.

  5. Client

    Step 5: Sessions and content

Live classes, one-to-one sessions and guided content unlock according to the membership.

  6. Billing

    Step 6: Membership renews

A reminder comes before each debit, and clients can pause or cancel themselves.

Then it starts again at step 1: Client joins a programme

Plain-English glossary

Wellness app terms, in plain English

Health Connect and HealthKit
The health data stores on Android and iOS that collect steps, sleep and heart rate from many apps and wearables. Reading from them, with the user's permission, avoids integrating each device separately.
UPI AutoPay and card mandates
Standing permissions for recurring charges, approved once by the client in their UPI app or on their card. Memberships and programme instalments then renew without manual follow-up, with a notice before each debit.
Membership gating
Showing content or classes only to clients whose plan includes them. It lets you sell tiers, such as classes only or classes plus coaching, from the same app.
Streak
The count of consecutive days a client completes a habit, such as logging meals or practising. A visible streak is a simple nudge that keeps clients engaged between sessions.

Client and coach screens

  • Wellness software client app dashboard on a phone, with key figures and a chart
Client app. Clients see their plan, streaks and progress in one place, which gives them a reason to open the app between sessions.
  • Wellness software coach workspace clients needing attention in a web browser, with 4 entries
Coach workspace. Coaches see which clients have gone quiet or need a plan change, with messages, plans and notes kept per client instead of across chats.
  • Wellness software client app booking slots on a phone, with open time slots
Client app. Members book studio or online classes against their membership, and attendance is recorded without a paper register.

Cost drivers

Wellness software cost factors

  1. Programme logic

Personalised plans and coach workflows take more design than class booking.

  2. Content delivery

Video and audio hosting, streaming and membership gating add infrastructure.

  3. Device integrations

Wearable data sync and permissions differ between Android and iOS.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you integrate data from fitness trackers and smartwatches?

Yes, mostly through platform health stores rather than each device separately. On Android, Health Connect gathers data from many apps and wearables; on iOS, HealthKit does the same. With the user's permission, your app can read steps, sleep, heart rate or workouts and show them to coaches. Available data varies by device and user settings, so programmes shouldn't depend on a single metric.

How do you handle mental health data?

We treat it as highly sensitive: minimal collection, explicit consent, encryption, strict role-based access so only the client's assigned practitioner sees session notes, and audit logs of every access. Crisis situations need a clear protocol, so we build visible routes to emergency helplines and human support rather than relying on automated replies. Your clinical and legal advisers should review these flows before launch.

Can clients pay for memberships automatically?

Yes. Memberships and programme instalments can renew through UPI AutoPay or card mandates via gateways such as Razorpay or Cashfree, with reminders before each debit, retries for failures and self-service pause or cancellation. Packages with a fixed number of sessions track remaining credits, and employer clients can be invoiced monthly for their staff's participation instead.
