Who it's for

Farm-to-consumer brands sell what the land produces this week, not a fixed catalogue. We build ordering and delivery software that works with variable harvests.

Selling this week's harvest directly

Farms, organic growers, producer groups and farm-fresh brands selling to households face problems a regular online store doesn't: availability depends on the harvest, items sold by weight are packed to slightly different weights, and customers want regular boxes on fixed days. Many start on WhatsApp and spreadsheets and outgrow them quickly. We build ordering and delivery systems designed around harvest-led supply.

Challenges

Why farm-direct selling is different

  1. Variable availability

What you can sell depends on the week's harvest, not warehouse stock.

  2. Weight differences

A 1 kg order may be packed at 950 g or 1.05 kg, and billing must adjust.

  3. Manual subscriptions

Weekly boxes, skips and substitutions managed in spreadsheets.

  4. Trust in claims

Customers want proof behind organic or residue-free labels.

Features for farm-to-consumer selling

  • Harvest-based catalogue

Weekly availability set by the farm, with pre-orders and quantity caps.

  • Weight-adjusted billing

Final amounts from packed weights, with wallet adjustments or refunds.

  • Subscription boxes

Weekly or fortnightly boxes with skip, swap and pause, billed by UPI AutoPay or wallet.

  • Delivery days and routes

Delivery days by area, route sheets and proof of delivery.

  • Certification display

NPOP or PGS-India certificate details and farm stories on product pages.

How it works

How this week’s harvest reaches a household

  1. Farm team

Step 1: Farm sets this week’s availability

Expected harvest is entered with quantity caps, so customers can only order what will actually be picked.

  2. Customer

Step 2: Customer orders or subscribes

Households order single items or a weekly box, choose the delivery day for their area and pay by UPI or from their wallet.

  3. Packing team

Step 3: Harvested and packed by weight

Orders are packed after picking, and the actual weight of each item is recorded at the packing table.

  4. Billing

    Step 4: Final bill adjusted

The final amount is calculated from packed weights, and any difference is credited to the wallet or refunded automatically.

  5. Delivery partner

Step 5: Delivered along the route

Route sheets group orders by area and day, and the delivery partner records proof of delivery at each door.

  6. Customer app

Step 6: Next week’s box adjusted

Customers skip, swap or pause next week’s box, and UPI AutoPay or wallet billing follows those changes.

Then it starts again at step 1: Farm sets this week’s availability

Plain-English glossary

Farm-direct selling terms, explained

Harvest-based catalogue
A product list that changes every week with what the farm expects to pick, capped by quantity. It prevents orders for produce that does not exist yet.
Weight-adjusted billing
Charging for the weight actually packed rather than the weight ordered, with the difference credited or added. It keeps billing fair when produce cannot be cut to exact weights.
Subscription box
A recurring box of produce delivered on a fixed day that customers can skip, swap or pause. It gives the farm predictable demand to plan harvests around.
Wallet credit
A balance held in the customer’s account and used for weight refunds or prepaid boxes. It avoids many small bank refunds and makes the next order quicker to pay.

Customer, packing and delivery screens

Illustrative screens for an organic farm delivering around Whitefield, Bengaluru.

  • Farm-to-consumer software customer app catalogue on a phone, showing harvested this week with prices
Customer app. Customers see what the farm is picking this week and how much is left, which stops orders for produce that is not ready.
  • Farm-to-consumer software packing station order FTC-2208 on a tablet, with 4 entries
Packing station. Packers record actual weights, and the system works out wallet credits or extra charges within the tolerance you set.
  • Farm-to-consumer software delivery partner app route map on a phone, with stops and live positions
Delivery partner app. Each drop along the area’s route is marked with a photo on arrival, so customers know their box is waiting for them.

Cost drivers

What shapes the budget for farm-direct software

  1. Subscription logic

Skips, swaps and substitutions add billing rules and edge cases.

  2. App or website first

A mobile-friendly website or PWA is a lighter start than store apps.

  3. Delivery model

Own fleets need route and driver tools; courier partners need integrations.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does billing work when packed weights differ from ordered weights?

We usually collect payment for the ordered amount, then calculate the final bill from the weight recorded at packing. If it is lower, the difference returns to the customer's wallet or is refunded; if it is higher within an agreed tolerance, you absorb it or add it to the next bill. You set the rules, and customers see them at checkout, so there are no surprises.

Can we also sell through ONDC?

Yes. ONDC lets sellers reach buyers on participating consumer apps through a seller-side platform. You can join through an existing seller app provider or connect your own system to one, so ONDC orders flow into the same inventory and packing process as website orders. Harvest-limited stock needs care: we sync availability across channels so you don't oversell produce that isn't picked yet.

How do we show customers our produce is organic?

Show the certification you actually hold, such as NPOP certification through an accredited certification body or PGS-India certification for farmer groups, with certificate details and validity dates on product pages. The software stores certificates per farm and hides the organic label automatically if one expires. Residue test reports can be attached to batches. Labels should never go beyond what your certification supports.
