Who it's for

Commercial farms and estates run like businesses with many small daily decisions. We build farm management tools that record what happened on each plot and what it cost.

Cost depends on
  • Farm size and crops
  • Labour rules
  • Sensors and hardware

Running a farm like the business it is

Tea and coffee estates, orchards, polyhouse growers and large commercial farms manage many plots, seasonal labour, input purchases and harvests sold to different buyers. Records often sit in the supervisor's notebook, so owners learn the cost per acre only after the season. We build apps that supervisors use in the field and owners review from anywhere, with plot-level records of work, inputs and yield.

Challenges

What makes farm records difficult

  1. Unknown plot-level costs

Inputs and labour aren't allocated to plots, hiding which crops pay.

  2. Labour attendance and wages

Daily and piece-rate workers paid from handwritten musters.

  3. Missing spray logs

Pesticide applications and pre-harvest intervals go unrecorded, a problem for export buyers.

  4. Absent owners

Owners managing remotely rely on phone calls for daily updates.

Farm management features

  • Plot and crop cycle records

Mapped plots, varieties, sowing and harvest dates, and activity history.

  • Labour muster

Attendance, piece-rate counts and wage calculations with UPI or bank payouts.

  • Input store and spray log

Fertiliser and pesticide stock issued to plots, with dates and doses recorded.

  • Irrigation scheduling

Schedules by plot, with optional soil moisture sensor readings.

  • Harvest and sales

Yield per plot, grading and dispatch to buyers with lot traceability.

How it works

A day on the farm, recorded plot by plot

  1. Farm supervisor

    Step 1: Morning muster

Workers are marked present against a plot and task on the supervisor’s phone, including piece-rate jobs such as plucking or picking.

  2. Store keeper

Step 2: Inputs issued to plots

Fertiliser and pesticide leave the store against a specific plot, so stock levels and plot costs update together.

  3. Farm supervisor

Step 3: Sprays and field work logged

Spray date, product, dose and pre-harvest interval are recorded with a photo, picked from lists rather than typed.

  4. Irrigation schedule

    Step 4: Irrigation run

Plots due for water appear on the day’s schedule, adjusted by soil moisture readings where sensors are installed.

  5. Harvest team

Step 5: Harvest weighed and lotted

Yield from each plot is weighed and graded, and every lot gets an ID that buyers can trace back to its spray records.

  6. Owner dashboard

Step 6: Owner reviews costs and wages

Cost per acre, wages due and yield by plot are visible from anywhere, and wages go out by UPI or bank transfer.

Then it starts again at step 1: Morning muster

Plain-English glossary

Farm management terms, explained

Pre-harvest interval (PHI)
The minimum number of days between a pesticide’s last spray and harvest. Export buyers check it, so recording it for every plot protects your market access.
Muster
The daily attendance register for farm workers, often with piece-rate counts alongside. Keeping it on a phone makes wages accurate and disputes rare.
Piece rate
Paying workers for output, such as kilograms plucked, rather than by the day. The app records counts per worker, so pay matches the work actually done.
Lot traceability
Linking each harvested lot to its plot, dates and spray records. It answers buyer questions quickly and limits the damage when a quality complaint arrives.

What supervisors and the farm owner see

Sample screens for a grape and pomegranate farm; figures are illustrative.

  • Farming software supervisor app spray log: block C, grapes on a phone, with input fields and an action button
Supervisor app. Supervisors log sprays and field work in their own language from simple lists, and entries save offline until the phone finds signal.
  • Farming software supervisor app muster: block A on a phone, with 3 entries
Supervisor app. Attendance and piece-rate counts are captured at the plot, so weekly wages are worked out from records rather than a notebook.
  • Farming software owner dashboard on a tablet, with key figures and a chart
Owner dashboard. Owners see cost per acre, wages due and yield by plot from anywhere, instead of waiting for the season-end accounts.

Cost drivers

Cost drivers for farm software

  1. Farm size and crops

More plots and crops mean more masters, reports and training.

  2. Labour rules

Piece rates, shifts and contractor payments add wage logic.

  3. Sensors and hardware

Soil sensors, weather stations or weighing scales need integration.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

  • Android app development

Native Android apps in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, designed for entry-level phones, patchy networks and the background limits of popular Android brands.

  • Custom software development

Software shaped around how your business runs, from approvals and inventory to billing and reports, replacing spreadsheets and disconnected tools.

  • Web application development

Browser-based products, customer portals, dashboards and internal tools, built on clean data models with secure roles and integrations.

  • Flutter development

Android and iOS apps from one Dart codebase, built by engineers who know when Flutter is the right call and when native code is needed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a ready-made farm management app we could use instead?

Several exist, and for a straightforward single-crop farm one may be enough. Custom development makes sense when you grow several crops with different cycles, pay labour on piece rates, supply export buyers who want specific records, or need the data joined to your own sales and accounts. We're happy to review an existing app with you first and build only what it can't do.

Can the app keep the records export buyers ask for?

Yes. Export buyers and programmes typically want plot-level spray records, pre-harvest intervals, input purchase details and harvest lot traceability. The app captures these as supervisors work and produces a record per harvest lot. Specific schemes, such as the traceability systems APEDA runs for certain fresh produce exports, have their own formats; we map your records to them.

Will supervisors actually use it in the field?

That is the main design constraint. Supervisors record work on an Android phone in the local language, pick from lists rather than typing, and add photos or voice notes. Entries save offline and sync when the phone finds signal. We train supervisors on site and keep screens simple enough that the app takes less time than the notebook it replaces.
