Who it's for

Dairy businesses handle a perishable product twice a day, every day. We build software for both ends: collection and farmer payments at source, and doorstep subscriptions.

Cost depends on
  • Collection hardware
  • Network size

Twice a day, every day

Indian dairies collect milk from many small farmers at village centres, test it for fat and SNF, pay according to rate charts, chill it in bulk milk coolers and move it to processing plants. Branded dairies and farm milk businesses then deliver packets and bottles to households every morning. Each step runs on tight timing and small margins, so accurate collection data and dependable subscriptions matter.

Challenges

Where dairy operations leak value

  1. Collection disputes

Manual readings of weight, fat and SNF lead to payment disagreements.

  2. Complex payment cycles

Farmer payments net of cattle feed, advances and other deductions.

  3. Cold chain gaps

Chilling temperatures and tanker times are not monitored.

  4. Subscription churn

Pauses, quantity changes and missed payments handled over phone calls.

Dairy software features

  • Collection centre app

Readings from electronic scales and milk analysers, with SMS or printed slips.

  • Rate charts

Fat and SNF pricing by season and centre, applied automatically.

  • Farmer ledger and payouts

Cycle-wise earnings, deductions and bank or UPI transfers with statements.

  • Chilling and tanker tracking

Bulk milk cooler temperatures, tanker dispatch and plant receipt.

  • Subscription delivery

Morning routes, pause and vacation modes, prepaid wallets and UPI AutoPay.

How it works

From the village collection centre to the morning doorstep

  1. Farmer

Step 1: Farmer pours the milk

At the collection centre the farmer’s code is entered and the milk is weighed on an electronic scale connected to the app.

  2. Milk analyser

Step 2: Fat and SNF tested

The analyser reading flows straight into the app and the rate chart sets the price, so nobody retypes numbers or argues over them.

  3. Collection centre app

Step 3: Slip issued, ledger credited

A printed slip or SMS confirms the reading, and the farmer’s ledger is credited for that shift’s milk.

  4. Chilling centre

Step 4: Milk chilled and moved

Bulk milk cooler temperatures are logged, and tanker dispatch and plant receipt times are recorded against each load.

  5. Dairy office

Step 5: Farmers paid each cycle

Cattle feed, advances and loan instalments are deducted, and once approved, each farmer’s net amount is paid to their bank account or UPI ID.

  6. Delivery partner app

Step 6: Branded milk reaches homes

Morning routes are built from active subscriptions, with the previous night’s pauses and extra orders already applied.

Plain-English glossary

Dairy terms, in plain English

SNF (solids-not-fat)
The protein, lactose and minerals in milk apart from fat. Together with fat it sets the price paid to farmers, so accurate readings prevent most payment disputes.
Rate chart
The price table that turns fat and SNF readings into a per-litre rate, by season and centre. Applying it automatically makes every farmer payment explainable.
Bulk milk cooler (BMC)
A refrigerated tank at a village or cluster that chills milk soon after collection. Logging its temperature protects quality until the tanker arrives.
Pre-debit notification
The advance notice sent to a customer before each UPI AutoPay charge. It keeps subscription billing within payment rules and gives households time to query a bill.

Cost drivers

Cost drivers for dairy software

  1. Collection hardware

Analyser and scale integration depends on models and data ports.

  2. Network size

More centres, routes and farmers mean more users, sync volume and support.

  3. Consumer app scope

A D2C subscription app is a separate product from back-office software.

Estimates are written from your scope, with the effort and assumptions behind each line item.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the app read directly from our milk analysers and scales?

In most cases. Many analysers and electronic scales at collection centres output readings over serial, USB or Bluetooth, which an Android device or small connected unit can read. Direct capture removes manual entry, the usual source of disputes. Some older machines use proprietary formats, so we test each model first and keep supervisor-approved manual entry as a fallback.

How does UPI AutoPay work for milk subscriptions?

The customer approves a recurring UPI mandate once in their UPI app, with a maximum amount and frequency. Your system then charges the actual bill within that limit after sending the required pre-debit notification. Pauses, vacations and extra orders simply change the amount billed. Customers can revoke the mandate from their UPI app, so make plan changes easy inside yours.

Can the system handle farmer deductions like cattle feed and advances?

Yes. Each farmer has a ledger where milk earnings are credited per shift and deductions recorded: cattle feed bought on credit, advances, loan instalments and society contributions. At the end of each cycle the system calculates the net amount, generates a statement in the farmer's language and prepares bank or UPI payouts for approval.
